Volunteers to keep fishing contest alive Organisers of Horsham’s annual fishing contest have been flooded with new volunteers, meaning the event will run next year.
Rising costs and dwindling numbers on the organising committee were threatening to make the event non-viable.
A crisis meeting last week failed to recruit any new members.
But committee chairman Keven Deller says the main concern now is negotiating a free police presence at the event.
“We’ve still got some decisions we have to make. We still have to get through this problem with police with regards to the charge…nothing would knock anything more than them giving us a full belt in the face with a full charge,” he said.
