Planning on heading down to Cape Lookout the 3rd or 4th weekend in October for a camping/fishing trip. 3-4 boats and 8-12 guys. Leaving Portsmouth, VA early enough on a Thursday to get down there and have the boats in the water by 8-9am at Harkers Island, so we will have 3 full days of fishing before we head home on Sunday. The plan is to head straight over to Cape Lookout, unload the camping gear, then head out to fish. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on launch ramps, particular camping spots, fishing spots, tackle, or supplies that we will want to make sure we bring with us. None of us have ever fished down there, but we all have lots of experience with specks, reds, flounder, and rockfish in the Hampton Roads, VA area. All boats will be shallow water capable (Privateers, skiffs, etc.). Thanks in advance for any advice that you are willing to share.
