Take Advantage of “Free Fishing” Tennessee’s Free Fishing Day is set for June 11th this year, with dozens of Free Fishing Day events being held across the state, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
All fishing on public waters will be free that day, but many organizations—including the TWRA—are planning special fishing events primarily aimed at attracting youngsters to the outdoors.
“Every event will be different,” noted John Mayer, the manager of TWRA’s Region 3 Office. “The outings that target youngsters also encourage adults to participate in some form. The day itself makes fishing free for everyone on waters considered public.”
The site will be updated several times in the days prior to June 11. Once in the agency’s website, click on “fishing” and look for Free Fishing Day information.
“If you have access to the Internet, our website is an excellent way to pick the event closest or most appealing to you,” said Mayer. “However, if you don’t have access, you can call regional TWRA offices and ask for the information.”
