Search off Wexford to continue through weekend

A search off the Co Wexford coast for two men missing from the fishing boat, the Maggie B, is to continue through the weekend.

The vessel, which previously capsized in 1993, sank off the coast of Co Wexford on Wednesday night.

Hundreds of people are now taking part in this massive search operation between Wexford and Waterford. The coastguard has around 120 people on land and sea searching.

Over 12 trawlers are also involved, as is the air and sea helicopter from Waterford, RNLI lifeboat crews, and the LE Ciara will be joined by the LE Eithne later this afternoon.

The skipper, Glenn Cott from Ballycotton in Co Cork, and Jan Sankowski, a 45-year-old Polish crew member, are missing after the 15m trawler went down around 8km off the Hook Peninsula.

A third crew member, Kriston Pawtowski, also from Poland, was found clinging to a life-raft and suffering from severe hypothermia at midnight on Wednesday, about an hour after a distress signal was sent from the vessel.
