Scottish skippers want to put environmental issues at top of UK government’s agenda

16 May, 2005 –
IN a comment posted on their website, the Scottish Whitefish Producers Association say that the new government at Westminster will have to have virtually at the top of its agenda, environmental issues which are going to impact on the UK over the next few years. On the issue of global warming, they state that the government has to get rid of the mindset that the problems with fish stocks are only the responsibility of fishermen. Fishermen already know that existing changes in sea temperature are affecting fish stocks (quite apart from the dire predictions given in Vienna) but yet the Government and Europe persist is misleading the public blaming all of the reduction in some fish stocks on over fishing, the website states. is published by Special Publications. Special Publications also publish European Fish Trader, Fishing Monthly, Fish Farming Today, Fish Farmer, the Fish Industry Yearbook, the Scottish Fishermens’ Federation Diary, the Scottish Seafood Processors Federation Diary, the Fish Farmer Handbook and a range of wallplanners.
