Tie flying techniques were taught at classes.
LEWISTON, ID – Fly fishing enthusiasts from all across the west coast came together Friday in Lewiston for the North Idaho Fly Fishing Expo.
From fly-tying classes to keynote speakers, the two-day event brought fishing enthusiasts together. Even our own Chief Weather Forecaster Keith Havens tried his hand at some lessons. Fly tiers brought their craft to the event displaying the different ways they tie and create the flies they say… help catch the fish.
“We have tiers that are doing trout flies, some are doing bass flies, a lot are doing steelhead ties,” said NIFFE Marketing Director Will Godfrey. “And then we have some guild guys, they tie Atlantic salmon flies. And let me tell you at auction sometimes I get somewhere between $800 and $1,000 a piece.”
The event was held at the Red Lion Hotel in Lewiston.
