Nevada reports on fishing

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA - Fishing has been good when the weather cooperates. Rainbow trout up to 18 inches have been caught recently at Adams-McGill, Cold Springs and Haymeadow reservoirs.
LAKE MEAD - Nevada Department of Wildlife creel census clerks saw few fish over Memorial Day weekend because high winds created impossible fishing conditions.
The return of more stable weather conditions should result in the return of fairly good fishing for striped bass. Before the weekend, anglers were having some success for stripers around Black Island, Sand Island and Gypsum Wash. There also were reports of stripers being caught from shore at Boxcar Cove.
Beyond the Boulder Basin, stripers have been caught recently from Stewart’s Point to Overton Beach and from Temple Bar to Sandy Point.
Anglers have been using a variety of baits to catch stripers, including anchovies, shad and shallow running lures such as Sassy Shad.
LAKE MOHAVE - Department supervising game warden Frank Chaves said fishing was phenomenal over Memorial Day weekend for boaters and shore anglers fishing for stripers in the Colorado River and Laughlin Lagoon below Davis Dam. Several limits of 10 stripers were seen by game wardens.
The 40 anglers at Friday’s rainbow trout plant at Willow Beach had no success as the fish headed for deep water. No stripers have been seen recently at Willow Beach.
Striped bass fishing has been slow in the Cottonwood Cove area.
EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR - Wind and cold weather spoiled the fishing for the numerous anglers at the reservoir for Memorial Day weekend. Trout fishing should improve as the weather becomes more moderate.
ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR - Strong winds created tough fishing conditions last weekend. Crappie and bass are now appearing in the catch, along with stocked rainbow trout.
URBAN PONDS - Good fishing is taking place at park ponds. Depending upon the pond, anglers are managing to catch rainbow trout, channel catfish, bluegill and largemouth bass. Catfish were stocked two weeks ago.
