Fishing has been productive. Anglers aboard the New Buccaneer partyboat had a great day on Sunday, fishing structure in about 170 feet of water approximately 60 miles off Galveston. The 77 anglers landed 173 red snapper (biggest weighed 21 pounds), a pair of yellowmouth grouper, six amberjack (to 36 pounds), a couple of ling and assorted other fish.
Houston Fshing Matagorda
Waders working shallow grass flats in West Matagorda Bay and throwing soft-plastics have scored fair to good catches, reported guide Mark Talasek. Live bait fished over and around shell pads and reefs in the open bay also have taken specks.
Conroe
Sunday morning, trolling deep-diving crankbaits trailed by small spoons produced 40 or so whites and eight hybrid bass weighing 4-5 pounds, guide Butch Terpe said. Most of the fish were holding over humps or ridges that top out 13-18 feet below the surface, he said.
Largemouth bass fishing has been very slow.
