Frozen Toes

Braved the cold today and attempted to fish. After about an hour or so, the toes on my left foot felt like they were about to fall off. I figured I must have gotten a leak in the waders or bootie. Got so bad I nearly called it quits early.
When I did head back to the car (completely skunked by the way), I did the old parking lot shuffle and my foot was completely dry. Not even sweaty.
I’m trying to figure out what went wrong. My right foot, both legs, and everything else was fine. I even ended up removing some layers throughout the day. But those toes on the left foot, darn near frozen solid. The only thing I can think of is that foot might have been leading into the current more.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it common? Id like to fish year round when I have the itch, but this darn near ruined the day, and its not even really winter yet.
