Froggy’s fishing report The Pilot-Independent – This past week the fishing has been good. Almost everyone who fished seemed to catch something. Shiners were the minnow of choice.
On Cass Lake early in the week, a long shank hook and a shiner minnow was the ticket. The northeast end, out on the gravel bars in 15-to-25 feet of water, seemed to be producing fish. No big fish were caught that I heard of, but most guys got enough fish for a meal. I had one group that went out after perch and got their limit of nice size fish.
With warmer weather coming, fishing is only going to improve. The leeches will start to pick up and so will the crawlers.
Lake Andrusia was producing some walleyes. Anglers fished the mouth of the rivers with shiners and were getting some good walleyes. This is a lake that produces nice fish all summer long. If you are on Cass Lake and feel like taking a ride, it is worth the trip to check it out.
Most of the locals who shore fish did have a harder time. But if you work at it and took time, people were able to find fish. Fishing right before dark with a jig and a twister or a Rapala worked the best.
The sunfish and crappies also are starting to bite. You will find them in the channels and on weed lines this time of year. This weekend is a good time to take your kids fishing.
On Lake innie, the west side is producing fish. Ravens and Sugarpoints, and the mouths of the river were hitting good. A shiner or a Lindy Rig are the keys here. Be mobile until you find them; and then drift or slowly troll, and you’ll find fish.
I hope you all have a great week of fishing.
