NORTHEAST TEXAS
WRIGHT PATMAN: 1.14 high. No report available.
BOB SANDLIN: Water clear; 49-52 degrees; 6.04 low. Black bass are fair on watermelon/red Brush Hogs fished in 68 feet. White bass are fair on small jigging spoons in the major creek channels. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows fished around man-made brushpiles in 18 23 feet. Catfish are good on chicken livers fished around cormorant roost.
CADDO: Water fairly clear; 52-58 degrees; 1.23 low. Black bass are fair to good on black/blue jigs and white spinnerbait fished around trees in 3-5 feet. Crappie are good on white/pink head 1/16 oz. jigs fished on the edges of the main channel. Catfish are fair on limb lines with cut bait.
FORK: Water clear; 48-50 degrees; 4.33 low. Black bass are slow along the main lake grass lines on 1/2 oz. crawdad or red with chartreuse belly Rat-L-Traps and firetiger spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows in 24-26 feet on deeper flats. Catfish are good on prepared baits and Black Salty baitfish in 26-30 feet.
LAKE O’ THE PINES: Water stained; 49-53 degrees; 4.37 low. Black bass are fair on jigging spoons and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in 20-25 feet (fishermen keep first 25 crappie, regardless of size, December thru February). Yellow bass are good on minnows and jigs in 35 feet. Blue catfish are fair on trotlines with goldfish and shiners.
MONTICELLO: Water fairly clear; 50-54 degrees; 0.46 low. Black bass are fair to good on Carolina and drop shot rigged sour grape or watermelon/chartreuse french fries in 16 - 22 feet. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair to good on prepared baits and Black Salty baitfish.
SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS
MILLWOOD LAKE: Current in Little River is nonexistent. Largemouth bass are biting well on pumpkinseed, black/red flake and purple smoke tubes along the pad stems in Little River. The best spots are where lily pad stems and vegetation remain near deep water. Spinnerbaits, soft plastics and firetiger crankbaits and Rat-L-Traps are working well.
LAKE COLUMBIA: The lake is low. Red-eared sunfish are biting well near the bottom on pieces of nightcrawler and panfish worms. Crappie fishing is good on jigs fished in the channel near the bridge. Bass fishing is fair on spinnerbaits in 4 to 10 feet of water. Catfishing is fair on worms and stinkbait.
LAKE ERLING: The water is clear and low. Crappie are biting well from Blackwell Landing down to Cannons Landing over the creek channels. Crappie jigs in white-and-silver, orange-and-white and brown-and-orange are working the best. Bass are biting fair in 4 to 10 feet of water on spinnerbaits. Catfishing is good on stinkbait and live shiners.
WHITE OAK LAKE: The lake has been drained to work on the levees and the water level is extremely low. Bass and crappie are biting well on minnows and jigs wherever you can find a deep hole. Bream are biting well on worms in lower White Oak Lake.
LAKE GREESON: The lake is still extremely low. Bass are biting fairly well on jigs and Carolina-rigged centipedes fished on ledges dropping from 4 to 20 feet of water. All other species have been slow.
DEGRAY LAKE: The lake is still very low. Not many people are going fishing lately with the weather, but a few have caught some crappie on the outside edge of the weed line. Iron Mountain Lodge said hybrids have made their run up the lake. The latest reports on hybrids have come from the Lennox Marcus and Point Cedar areas.
