FRESHWATER Barrett: The 148 anglers checked: 179 bass, 291 bluegill and 2 crappie, all released. Open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

Chollas: The 292 youngsters 15 and under reported 43 bass, 49 trout, 153 channel catfish, 213 bluegill, 23 carp. Jose Garcia, 10, first five-fish limit of channel catfish. Nicole Vargas, 10, first time fishing, two channel catfish. Open daily to youngsters 15 and under.

Cuyamaca: Best producing lake in the county right now, with bass, trout, channel catfish, crappie all going strong. East End turning out husky trout and channel catfish. Annual Bullhead-A-Thon now on, with rewards for most bothersome bullheads removed from the lake. Jordan Kerr, Ramona, 28-4 channel catfish, jig, South End. Dale Fojter and Don Wallis, San Diego, 10 trout, 15-0 with a 3-0, East Lake. Jonathan Bergschneider, 3, Alpine, 2-12 trout, Power Bait, East Lake. Open daily.

Dixon: Trout still biting, but deep. Night fishing every Wednesday through Saturday nights, starts June 15 following a plant of 2,000 pounds of channel catfish. Open daily.

El Capitan: Outstanding crappie fishing here. Creel checks of 500 anglers showed 3 bass kept (213 released), 25 bluegill, 956 crappie, 28 channel catfish and 10 blue catfish. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday for fishing, boating and water contact (Jet Skis, wakeboarding and water-skiing).
