Fishing Report Pahrump Valley
KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA - Cold temperatures have gripped the area and ice has again formed on the reservoirs. Installation area technician Daniel Maes said that the ice is not thick enough to walk on. Lows have been in the single digits, and afternoon temperatures have been in the 40s.

LAKE MEAD - As always during the winter, fishing is slow. Shore fishermen and boaters have had little luck for striped or largemouth bass and stocked rainbow trout.

Last weekend, anglers competing in a Silver State Bass Club tournament had a tough time getting largemouth bass to bite. Club members caught a few largemouth bass and no smallmouth bass.

Boaters caught a few striped bass at Las Vegas Wash by fishing with anchovies. One angler reported catching stripers that weighed five and four pounds while fishing from shore at B-5 Cove after last week’s rainbow trout plant.

Anglers in the Overton Arm caught few fish at Stewart’s Point, Fire Cove and near the tires at Overton Beach and Echo Bay marinas.

Trout fishing continues to be slow following department plants. This week’s stocking takes place today at Hemenway, Horsepower, Pumphouse and North Saddle coves.

LAKE MOHAVE - Three dozen anglers along the shoreline at Willow Beach for last week’s rainbow trout plant had good luck, with some catching limits of 10. Super Duper lures and PowerBait caught fish. Most of the planters were from 11 to 14 inches.

Fishing remains slow for striped bass throughout the lake. About the only success has been for stripers of a pound or less north of the narrows above Cottonwood Cove.

URBAN PONDS - Rainbow trout plants took place Tuesday at Hafen Pond in Mesquite and Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City and Sunset Park in Las Vegas. Thursday, plants were set for Floyd Lamb State Park and Lorenzi Park in Las Vegas.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -
No anglers were seen ice fishing at the lake over the weekend. Last week a fisherman had good luck for trout that weighed up to four pounds, fishing through the ice off the fishing dock. Temperatures ranged from around 5 degrees at night to the mid-30s during the day.
