Fishing Report Pahrump NV USA
LAKE MEAD

Fishing has been slow throughout the lake except for the area around Sand Island in the Boulder Basin where boaters have been using bait to catch striped bass that weigh from one to three pounds.

A 17-pound striper was caught from shore last week at B-5 Cove following the rainbow trout plant. Nevada Department of Wildlife creel census clerks checked a few trout that were caught following the plant at B-3 Cove.

Fishing for largemouth bass remains slow as the fish are now in deep water and are reluctant to bite. Fishing for bass should begin to show signs of life in March when the fish begin moving toward coves for their spawn.

LAKE MOHAVE

Fishing was good for the 50 anglers who were at Willow Beach for last week’s rainbow trout plants. Most anglers caught four or five fish and there were several limits of 10 trout taken. The Jake’s Spin-A-Lure appeared to be the most productive method for catching the fish.

This week’s trout plants took place Tuesday at Placer Cove, Wednesday at Aztec Wash and Thursday at Cottonwood Cove.

WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA

Afternoon temperatures that have hit the mid 50s combined with recent winds have produced lots of open water on the lakes. Boats cannot be launched because of ice around the launch ramps. Conditions are not safe for ice fishing.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

The ice is three to four inches thick and is not considered to be safe enough to walk on. Anglers who are drilling holes in the ice beside the fishing dock are catching stocked rainbow trout.

Temperatures have been ranging from single digits during the night to the 30s and 40s during the day.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

A pair of anglers who were fishing from shore Monday in a small patch of open water on the far side of the lake caught their limits of five rainbow trout. Ice conditions are not safe for ice fishing.

URBAN PONDS

Ivy Santee, a department angler education coordinator, said anglers are enjoying very good action for stocked rainbow trout at the urban ponds. PowerBait, worms and flies in natural patterns are catching the fish. She also said that dry flies were catching trout at Sunset Park following last week’s plant.
