The following reports are supplied by field staff of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
In Dauphin County, trout anglers are having the most success on Roostertails and paste baits. Water levels on all county streams are in excellent condition, and water temperatures are in the 55- to 65-degree range.
Anglers are catching channel catfish on the Juniata River in Juniata County using cutbaits and nightcrawlers. Good fishing spots include the Thompsontown and Mifflintown access areas. Best times for the fish to bite are late evenings and early mornings. Trout fishing continues to be productive on Lost Creek. Anglers should fish the deeper holes using baits such as wax worms and maggots.
In Perry County, Holman Lake at Little Buffalo State Park continues to produce daily catches of trout. Paste baits in assorted colors are working the best. Anglers should use light line (four-pound-test) and just enough weight to get the power bait to the bottom. On the Juniata River near Newport, anglers are catching channel catfish on cut baits and nightcrawlers. Sherman Creek has received recent stockings of trout from state and local cooperative nurseries.
