Fishing boats caught in protected reef zone - Three illegal fishing boats have been caught near one of the most environmentally significant islands in the Great Barrier Reef.
Customs officials apprehended the Indonesian boats near Raine Island, 600 kilometres north of Cairns last Friday.

In the early hours of sunday morning a 26 metre Banff registered fishing vessel went aground east of Fraserburgh with five people aboard.

Haddock fishing ban - A report submitted by scientists to European fisheries ministers has called for a total ban on cod fishing in the North Sea. The report also urges that fishermen should limit their catch of haddock to 40 percent of what they are currently lugging in.
