ItÂ?s on!! The stripers have arrived and they are here in numbers. Over the weekend, anglers loaded up on linesiders and caught them on virtually every kind of lure and bait used for bass.
First thing Saturday, Sean Reilly showed up with a 26.5 pound bass that measured 40 inches. He was fishing on the Â?Low TideÂ? near the GE Bell. They had two other keepers using Stretch 25Â?s and umbrella rigs. Bob Whiteside and Ron Wigglesworth trolled the same area and had a 27 pound and a 24 pound bass both taken on Stretches. Dan and Mike Lafferty and Frank Faverzanni fished off AC and had three nice bass. These fish were 22.5, 18, and 17 pounds respectively. They were using Stretches and umbrella rigs and caught one bass on a bucktail. They were on board the Â?Rusty Hook IIÂ?. Mike Doherty, Larry Frambes and Ralph Girard on board the Â?Wide AwakeÂ? trolled the area off Ocean City and had six keepers. They were from 31 pounds to 12 pounds. All nice clean fish. These anglers were using Stretch 30Â?s. Alex Chell fished on the Â?Just A FlukeÂ? and had a very nice 32 pound bass off Ocean City. Again, Stretches and umbrella rigs were the lures of choice. Pat Gill and Mike McGucken on the Â?Hail MaryÂ? fished on the South end of Ocean City and bagged a 15 pound and a 13.5 pound bass on Stretch 25Â?s and bunker spoons. Phil Carafagno and crew on Â?Midnight BaitÂ? trolled off AC and boated a 34 pound bass along with two other keepers and again Stretches, umbrella rigs and large spoons did the trick. Tim McBride and Phil Pente on the Â?Royal FlushÂ? fished off AC and had two very large keepers, one weighed 34 pounds and measured 43 inches and the other was 37.5 pounds and was 44.5 inches. The usual Stretches, umbrella rigs and big spoons did the trick. Mike, Nick, Ron and JR Gentile, fished the area off OC and had a 40 pound bass and three other keepers. They were in about 45 feet of water and Stretches did the trick. The bass of the weekend goes to John Concannon on the Â?Little WaveÂ?. Along with Randy Young, he boated a 45.5 pound bass that measured just north of 47 inches. They also had a nice 13.75 pounder and though it may seem redundant, Stretches and umbrella rigs were the lures that did the trick.
We think it has just begun and are certain that many of these fish will soon be entering the bays before making their journey up the rivers.
To top the whole thing off, Keith Zaid and crew on his boat Â?Plastic CloudÂ? fished one of the inshore reefs and loaded up on nice tog. The largest of these fish weighed 8.75 pounds and measured 24 inches. A nice week overall.
