Big Bear Lake Fishing Report – The summer season hit with a bang the past week, but there are still fish out there to be caught. With boaters taking over the lake, fish are retreating into the quieter waters away from the noise.
This is the time of year anglers try a little bit of everything to get the big fish. Best fishing is still on the west end of the lake from the dam and Papoose Bay to the West Ramp. If one type of bait isn’t working try something else. What works one day may not work the next as trout become picky eaters in the summer heat.
Best bet for catching channel and blue catfish is along the North Shore from Dana Point to east of Juniper Point during the evening hours. Use cut mackerel and chicken livers, but cats will take a nibble on just about anything.
