Beachfront
Wind backed off Sunday morning, catching most anglers off-guard. Despite the lull, water conditions remained marginal, with rough, sandy surf downgrading pier and jetty potential. Velocity increased during the afternoon hours, downgrading early-week potential.
Tides were running at above-normal levels, and inshore water reading were in the mid-70s.

Little hope of finding missing fisherman
Police say they hold little hope of finding a 18 year-old man missing from a trawler off eastern Cape York.
Crew mates told detectives they have not seen Matthew John Kinneally since he tried to swim between two boats in Princess Charlotte Bay on Wednesday night.

Inshore water readings struggled to nudge 70 degrees during the afternoon hours, following a dip to 66 behind the early-weekend cool front. Recent mixed-bag catches were fair from piers, nothing exceptional, but should improve with resumption of Gulf wind.
